Every spring CITO events take place as geocachers clean up parks and natural areas to welcome the return of warm weather.
This year there are two CITO weeks, the first being from April 16 to 24.
I.B. Geocaching Supplies is organizing a Group GeoMedal Geocoin project for CITO hosts wishing to have a custom trackable for their
event. Due to the tight timeline to complete this project and make sure event hosts
have their trackables before CITO week, this project is being restricted to Canadian participants.
Apologies to our American and
International customers. If this group project goes well it will be repeated in the fall with an earlier start date to allow wider
What is a GeoMedal?
It is metal and trackable like a geocoin, but the design is laser engraved like a wooden nickel. They are
typically 2" to 2.5" in size and you can see examples of the GeoMedals we carry in our GeoMedal section
The images show a mockup of how the design will look; I hope to have pictures of actual samples before March 25.
Please note this design may be reused in the fall if another group project is run.
They are 2.5" in diameter with cutouts around the central circle and a hole in the outer ring at the top allows for easy
attachment to an object to travel. The available finish colours are antique gold, antique silver, and antique bronze.
The tracking numbers will have a CA prefix, share a common name (e.g. "Canadian 2016 CITO Event GeoMedal"), and use the event icon.
The text "2016 CITO Events" on the back will be replaced with the name of your event. Be sure to specify your event name in the comments
box when ordering, as well as how many coins you want in each finish.
If you wish to have a completely custom design on the back (for example, with your geocaching group's logo) that is possible. Please
for pricing details. Your design must be in EPS format for engraving, and it will be submitted to
Groundspeak for approval before it can be confirmed for use.
Cost and Order Size
The minimum order size is 5 coins. The pricing table below shows the coin cost for different size orders and includes the tracking number.
You may order any combination of the three finishes; please state how many of each you want in the comments field when you order.
With an order of 50 or more you can choose a custom name for the tracking codes, use either the CA or EV prefix, and also choose between
the event or generic icon.
Shipping cost will depend on the order size and will be estimated in the shopping cart. Orders of 12 coins and under will be sent by
regular mail with a normal delivery time of up to a week. Orders over a dozen coins will be sent by Expedited Parcel.
